- Abstract: Anal cancer is one of the most common cancers in people living with HIV. The mortality rate is high for advanced anal cancer, and chronic, debilitating treatment-associated morbidity is common, even for early-stage cancers. Anal cancer can be prevented through primary prevention (HPV vaccination) and secondary prevention (screening for and treating the anal cancer precursor, high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion, or HSIL). Workshop participants will learn about risk factors for anal cancer and HSIL in people living with HIV, understand primary and secondary anal cancer prevention approaches, and understand practical steps needed to implement anal cancer prevention programmes in different clinical settings. We will have a series of short scientific presentations followed by an interactive panel discussion with audience participation.
